2018 has been a year of exceptional progress for our association. We’ve grown more in terms of numbers than ever before, and we’ve developed into a truly national governing body for martial arts. We’re really proud to have this hard work recognised by a nomination for the Association Excellence Awards 2018 as one of the best Sports Associations in the United Kingdom, making the top 8!
We’re up against some stiff competition and some truly fantastic talent – we hope the finalists list below will show the calibre of association we’re being considered as…
- British Martial Arts & Boxing Association (us!)
- Club Managers Association of Europe
- English Lacrosse
- Kick It Out
- Professional Football Scouts Association
- Surfing England
- The Football Foundation
- The Rugby Players’ Association
All of the fellow associations represent superb quality organisations. To the best of our knowledge, it looks like our association is the only association to not be receiving grants, funding or sponsorship. Given that we were set up by social entrepreneur Giovanni Soffietto with just £10 of capital in 2012, we’re exceptionally proud to have made it to such a level in such a short period of time.
I have no illusions of grandeur regarding this award. It’s a superb privilege to have made it to the finals, especially as the only martial arts association, but we’re up against some exceptional and very high profile organisations – so making this far is more than enough for us right now (however we’d certainly welcome a win!). We’re incredibly grateful to all of our members for making the BMABA the successful and vibrant organisation it is.
GIOVANNI SOFFIETTO – DIRECTORTo realiterate Giovanni’s sentiments, we’re only a finalist for this award because of the outstanding men and women affiliated with our association. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who calls the BMABA home, and look forwards to rolling out a range of new features and services to our loyal members in the coming months.
We’ll keep everyone updated on the awards night!
